17 April travel
Les Arcs News: 17/18 April 2010 travel – the volcanic ash cloud!
We have been hearing various reports about people getting home from their ski holidays in Les Arcs. We all know that flights into the UK have been cancelled and airports are closed until atleast 07.00h on Sunday; but Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble and Chambery are also closed. Eurostar is fully booked until at least Monday and the ferries and tunnel are running at capacity with no foot passengers being allowed to book before Wednesday. Apparently Calais is chaotic unless you have a ticket already. It looks as if the best option is to stay in Les Arcs and enjoy yesterday’s fresh snow: check out the Les Arcs snow reports now.
- Ski Crystal cancelled all flights on Thursday and clients are travelling home on coaches.
- Inghams – believe as for Crystal
- The first Ski Beat skiers left Plan Peisey, Les Arcs on a coach at 04.00h Saturday for a dash to Calais for a ferry that is booked for 17.40h. Ski Beat will be taking skiers back to Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted airports. Apparently a second Ski Beat coach was leaving Les Arcs for the UK at about 7am.
- Ski World are advising skiers to stay in contact with their resort managers in Les Arcs
